Valentine's Day
There is no school on Friday, 2/14; however, our class will be celebrating Valentine's Day Thursday afternoon. Students are not required to bring in Valentines; however if they'd like to here are some guidelines to follow:
Pennies from Heaven Collection -- Extra Incentives for Students!
Our school has been working hard fundraising for Pennies from Heaven these past few weeks. We're getting closer to our end goal, but we still have a ways to go.
Aside from the free dress pass(es) your student can earn by participating, I will also provide 15 minutes of extra recess and one no homework pass to each third grader who donates! The office will provide me with a list of who participated after the donation period has ended, so the no homework pass will be given out at that time.
ALSO! If our class gets 100% participation, we will have a Disney movie party one afternoon. Right now our class is at almost 50% participation. Let's try to get to 100% and enjoy a Disney movie!!
What We're Learning...
Math: review Ch. 7; test on Tuesday, 2/4; use a ruler to estimate and measure length to the nearest inch and half inch; convert units of length
ELA: prefixes pre-, mid-, over-, out-, bi-, de-; facts and opinions; possessive pronouns
Religion: the Church continues Jesus' mission here on earth; liturgy, doctrine, and hierarchy of the Church
Science: how living and nonliving interact within an ecosystem
Social Studies: important landmarks, holidays, symbols, and documents to both the US and CA; the importance, purpose, and difference between the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution

Coming Up...
There is no school on Friday, 2/14; however, our class will be celebrating Valentine's Day Thursday afternoon. Students are not required to bring in Valentines; however if they'd like to here are some guidelines to follow:
- Please do not send them before Thursday, 2/13
- Please do not pre-name the Valentines
- Student will be placing one in everyone's bag, and the process goes much smoother when students are frantically moving around trying to find everyone's name.
- Please make sure there is one for everyone
- We have 32 students altogether in the class.
- If your student would like to get one of those Valentines that comes with a treat, please consider one with a non-edible treat like a sticker or pencil, or a treat without nuts. That way students with nut allergies can enjoy too.
